Weve been up for over 24 hours, deadline is today….oh no!!!!!! well, me, Luke and Matt have….Paul buggered off hours ago for sleep!

were just starting to edit after staying up all night compositing, oh dear………oh well, it’ll be done soon enough, it’s quarter to nine in the morning, so we gotta get this done pronto!!

and we still have to do that 500 word evaluation, that thing is annoying!

anyways, onwards and upwards.

Lip Synching

March 28, 2009

For the past two days I’ve been working on the lip synching of Lucretia. It’s been quite straightforward so far, but my computer has decided to be an arse and run stupidly slow, so this is taking me ages to get done. I still need to animate the eyes and arms, but I should hopefully get it done and ready for compositing by monday. Hand in is on Wednesday…….dun dun duuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuun

Here’s one of many tests and what I’ve done so far….

Just started lip synching in Toon Boom today, and now that I’ve begun to get used to it, I’m proper liking it!

not long left now until hand in, just under a week……..oh dear.

I will upload tests as soon as theyre done. Gotta get on with composing music and also compositing once everything is done. Paul finished his lip synching, it looks awesome, Lukes done a few tests and Matt is nearly there. all in all, its looking good, lets just hope we can get something finished as we’ve had to cut a lot out of it due to the time limit were restricted to.

onwards and upwards…..back to Toon Boom!

March 22, 2009

I decided I hated my drawing of the Lucretia (the goth) and re-vamped her. I thought it would be better and far more realistic if we based her on starlets of the 1930s to 50s, especially Gloria Swanson of Sunset Boulevard fame. Also, turns out we all need to animate in order to get this done so i’ll be animating her whilst matt, paul and luke animate the other three characters, fun fun fun!

havent done lip synching since first year so its gonna be a bit of a challenge, but it should be good!

Also, weve decided to cut the narration and dirks interview out, for time-saving issues. I think its going to work out well. only two weeks left. here we goooooooo!

so she went from this -

to this -

March 17, 2009

Ok….so it’s been a couple of days and I need to re-cap on whats gone on…

thursday night we we got together and discussed the narrative and script some more. we also talked about how characters should act and look. I’m still concerned as we don’t have a design for dirk finished yet…

anyways….we stayed up until half fiveĀ  Friday morning main an Animatic for the halfway presentation on Friday.

this helped us a lot and gave us an idea of how the long the film is going to be, turned out it was gonna be looooooooooong. so we cut down a lot of dialogue etc.. and managed to shorten it down to around five minutes. The next day we had our presentation. I felt it went pretty well, and James helped us come up with some ideas and solve some problems. peers were helpful also, I just wish that people would speak their mind more often, it’s always the same people that comment……

Now we need to make elements for the film i.e. posters, props, characters.

we also decided that Paul should animate large parts because he can animate quickly and economically. I still cant get used to toon boom so im just concentrating on compositing, designing, voice and soundtrack. Were working on the script collectively and luke has been doing some pan-through shots for the intro. It’s looking dandy….even though I’m finding it a nightmare to work when the weather is so amazing outside……..

March 10, 2009

Here is some dialogue I’ve improvised and recorded in garage band. Not sure if Matt wants to use the Dirk recording….

Toon Boom is annoying…

March 10, 2009

I’ve been trying to draw using the software ands annoyingly hard. I dont know how Paul manages it…..

I wish we were using flash, it would be soooooooo much better. Of course, I’m biased as I’m used to it.

Here are some of my Toon Boom creations, some successful other not so successful, mostly the latter…..

I think the second goth drawing maybe close to the final one…I’m still not pleased with it, but I guess were running behind schedule and we need to get going….

Voice Recording

March 10, 2009

I spent most of yesterday morning doing voice recordings for the Goth character which I will now be animating. I recorded it on a Macbook pro (sweet things those apples), did it all on garage band which was pretty cool, managed to piss about with the settings and get a pretty realistic sounding old lady. Its quite awesome what you can do these days :D

I also had a go at doing a dialogue piece for Dirk. I put an effect on so it sounds like its being broadcast through an old radio. I suggested we have a clip of an interview with dirk just to save on animation time. Maybe have a picture of a radio and have the audio coming out of it? not sure what Matt will make of it.

we’re hoping to have an animatic done by the end of this week for the presentation. hopefully things will run smoothly. some characters are ready for animating. I need to finalize the goth and then I think we’ll be on our way!!

March 6, 2009

I felt useless so I decided to do my own composition test. I wanted to try out the old film grain filter I had. I’m pretty pleased with it, plus I felt like personally, I was getting somewhere

Awesome….

March 4, 2009

So…yesterday, Paul went off and did a lip synching test, Matt made a poster and then…………….Luke composited them together. It looks pretty sick, and I’m feeling even more positive and excited about it all…but after seeing it, I did feel rather useless, hence today character designs. I guess once we get on with production more, there will be plenty to do.

here’s the test anyways -
